Academic interests

Buddhist ethics, Tibetan Buddhism, interreligious dialogue, and Buddhist perspectives in religious education.

Since 2020, I have been teaching the MA seminar Buddhist Care Practices within the Leadership, Ethics and Counselling (LES) programme at the University of Oslo, focusing on compassion, care, and contemplative practices in plural societies.

I studied Tibetology and Classical Indology with a focus on Buddhist Studies at the Asia-Africa Institute of the University of Hamburg (M.A. 2003, PhD 2009). My research is rooted in historical-philological work on Tibetan Buddhist biographical literature and narrative traditions, as well as in the study of the ordination of Buddhist nuns (bhikṣuṇī) ordination and gender in Buddhism. I have led and contributed to DFG- and BMBF-funded research projects and have served as Visiting Professor of Buddhism and Dialogue in Modern Societies at the University of Hamburg.

My work bridges textual scholarship, ethical and institutional questions, interreligious dialogue, and contemporary religious education, with a particular interest in Buddhist perspectives on care and chaplaincy in plural contexts.
