ATTR supports research stays focusing on textual scholarship related to the candidate’s dissertation project at well-respected international research institutions.

ATTR Mobility Grants

The Application should state clearly whether you are applying for Grant A or Grant B:

ATTR Mobility Grant A (up to 100 000 NOK):

  • This grant is intended for a medium term stay (3–12 months) at a research institution abroad during the dissertation project period.

ATTR Mobility Grant B (up to 50 000 NOK):

  • This grant is an ATTR grant intended for a shorter stay, or stays (with a minimum duration of 3 weeks each) at a research institution abroad during the dissertation project period.

With both Grants A and B it is possible to apply for less, but not more, than the maximum amount.

Who can apply?

All PhD students who are members of ATTR can apply.

If you are not already a member, you can apply for ATTR membership. Previous participation in ATTR activities is not required.

The application

ATTR Membership Application

The application is to be submitted online between January 15 and February 15, 2018.

The application should contain:

A research plan

  • The intent of the grants is to promote textual scholarship and international networking. The research plan must reflect this.
  • The research plan should show the relevance of the host institution, and your planned activities there, to your PhD project.
  • It should also explain how you plan to interact with the host institution (e.g., supervision, paper presentation, courses, meetings, archival work, etc.).

Confirmation from host institution

  • A formal letter of invitation from the host institution should be included with the application.

Confirmation of support from supervisor

  • Your primary supervisor must know and approve of the application. The applicant must confirm that this is the case through a brief written statement of support from the primary supervisor.

Practical issues

  • Grants awarded in 2018 should be used within the upcoming academic years 2018-2019. The application should show when you are planning our stay.
  • ATTR only provides funding, please draw on local administrative support from your home institution to help arrange practical matters connected to the planned research stay.

Budget

  • The grant can cover expences that are a direct result of your journey, like travel, housing, fees, etc., but not indirect expenses like book purchases, insurance and likewise. Outline how you intend to use the grant.
  • Expenses will be reimbursed, so prepare for disbursement, keep all original receipts etc.

Evaluation Procedure

The applications will be evaluated by the ATTR board, whose decisions will be final. The board will take into account the quality of the application and how it relates to the overall focus and aims of ATTR.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome by March 20, 2018.

Report

In addition to benefiting greatly from the research stay(s), the grantee is expected to share his/her experience of the research stay at an upcoming ATTR seminar and/or through the ATTR website.
