About ESWTR and the Oslo Conference

The European Society of Women in Theological Research (ESWTR) is a network of women involved in academic research in the areas of theology and religious studies. The Society hosts a European conference every two years to discuss relevant themes in feminist theology. Between conferences scholars meet at national or regional levels and continue to work together in subject groups. The ESWTR is the editing body of the annual Journal of the European Society of Women in Theological Research and of the ESWTR Studies in Religion

The 2021 conference will take place in Oslo. The host institutions are the Faculty of Theology at the University of Oslo, MF Norwegian School of Theology, Religion and Society and VID Specialized University.

The topic will be: Resisting Womanhood. Feminist theology confronts European nationalism, non-democracy, climate denial and gender-hierarchy.
