Academic interests
I am particularly interested in religious transformation and lived religion, that is, how ordinary people experienced religion, particularly in the local and domestic spheres and in their everyday life, in the changing socio-religious context of Late Antique and early Islamic Egypt. Previously, I have mainly focused on magical practices and the Greek and Coptic magical texts from Egypt. My research within the APOCRYPHA project will focus on the relationship between apocryphal works preserved in Coptic, Coptic magical texts, and Coptic liturgical practices.
