Guest lecture with Jens Schröter: The Emergence of the New Testament Canon: Canonical and Apocryphal Writings in Early Christianity

Faculty of Theology, in collaboration with Norwegian School of Theology welcomes Professor Jens Schröter from Humboldt University in Berlin.

Professor Schröter is one of the leading international scholars in the New Testament today. His research focusses on both canonical and non-canonical Jesus traditions, New Testament Apocrypha, the Acts of the Apostles and the history of early Christianity. He also has an interest in reception history and the theology of the New Testament. His most recent monograph is entitled Jesus of Nazareth: Jew from Galilee – Savior of the World (Baylor University Press, 2014; new revised German version published in 2017, and in French in 2018). Among his many current projects are a commentary on Romans (Gütersloher), a commentary on Acts (Mohr Siebeck), as well as a Theology of the New Testament (Mohr Siebeck).
