Book Launch: Figurations and Sensations of the Unseen in Judaism, Christianity and Islam
Judaism, Christianity and Islam are often thought to privilege words over images, and even to be hostile towards portraying the divine. This book shows that in reality the situation is much more complex.
Different traditions within each of these religions have developed strategies to render the invisible visible and the elusive as tangible. They have formed sensual regimes: embodied habits, traditions and standard for seeing, sensing, display, figuring and imagining that which could not or should be seen.
