African ritual & theology students from UiO at fieldsite Ski-VM in Holmenkollen
Five African TF students were sponsored by sociologist Olaf Aagedal and the Fritt Ord project documenting the Nordic World Ski Championship in Oslo 2011 on Sunday March 6.

The students participated as spectators in Holmenkollen and are invited to write up their reflections of the event and contribute to the project. They report: “We believe this is the finest single event we have seen in Oslo, pulling together a great number of enthusiastic spectators, athletes, sponsors and different nations.
The crowd at the Homenkollen arena and woods was fantastic, not even what we see on May 17 come close. Unlike the quiet or beautifully disciplined music we listened to in Domkirken during the Ski-VM, the outdoor crowd never ceased cheering and fiesting for the medal winners. We will not be surprised if more kids in Norway will become skiers after this. It was really a cool winter joy!”
