Courses and Seminars
The ph.d.-candidates are to receive, in the course of the taught component of their research training, an introduction to research ethics, theory of knowledge and scholarly method, and training in scholarly dissemination.
Program and Module Descriptions for the Taught Component
The taught component of the ph.d.-degree consists of courses and scholarly activities corresponding to a half year of study (30 credits), divided up into the following modules:
Basic Seminar (10 credits)
The course is obligatory, offered annually at the Faculty of Theology, and includes:
- Writing Technique
- Bibliographic Method and Working Methods
- Research Ethics
- Theory of Knowledge
- Theory of Knowledge Essay
Ongoing presentation seminar (5 credits)
The course is obligatory, offered continually at the Faculty of Theology, and includes:
- Seminars
- Guest seminars
- Master classes
University Pedagogical Module (5 credits)
The course is optional, but recommended for all doctoral research fellows. It is offered annually at the University of Oslo and Practical Theological Seminary, and includes:
- University Pedagogics general module
- University Pedagogics free modules
- Subject didactics and teaching practice
Discipline and dissertation-specific course (10 credits)
The ph.d.-candidate may choose from a long line of pertinent categories of researcher courses, nationally and internationally.
