Seminar on Comparative Approaches to Ancient Religions (Judaism, Christianity and Islam)
The Faculty of Theology celebrates its 200 year anniversary in 2011. From 18th of october until 3rd of november 2010 an anniversary exhibition about the facultys 200 year-long history was held at the Humboldt University in Berlin.
The Mowinckel lecture is a bi-annual arrangement at the Faculty of Theology, University of Oslo, in honour of one of the most influential researchers at this faculty, Sigmund Mowinckel (1884 – 1965).
"Secularity in Context. Religion, Value Systems and Citizenship in Late Modern Europe".
José Casanova will in this lecture explore forms of participation, citizenship and identity as expressed through practises that are, or are not motivated by religion.
Prominent researchers from Africa, North America, and Scandinavia, will give lectures that will stimulate interesting discussions within the fields of theology, religious studies, gender studies, and social antropology. Critical knowledge from Africa will be compared with Nordic contextual theology and philosophy and discussed with the challenges of modernity, religion and gender.
